Tarama is a culinary preparation of Turkish and Greek origin. It is composed of mullet (or cod) eggs, milk, lemon, vegetable oil and breadcrumbs. Tarama is traditionally eaten in the French diet as an appetizer on blinis but it can also be eaten in salads with cucumbers and tomato. Due to the risk of listeriosis from raw fish roe, pregnant women should not eat it during their pregnancy. Prefer fresh, well-cooked and varied fish or shellfish.
