Information
Bresse blue cheese is a parsley cheese made from raw cow's milk. It is very rich in protein, vitamins and minerals. However, it is recommended that pregnant women do not consume a parsley cheese, as it is considered to be at risk of contamination by the Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. This bacteria can cause a disease called listeriasis, which can be very dangerous for the mother and the fetus, and even lead to fetal malformations or a miscarriage. Therefore, pregnant women are not recommended to consume Bresse blue cheese in order to prevent any risk for health. It is preferable to choose pasteurized cheeses, which have undergone heat treatment and are therefore free from pathogenic bacteria.
All these recommendations are given as an indication based on ANSES information and cannot replace the advice of a health professional.
