During pregnancy, cold cuts should be avoided to prevent any risk of listeriosis or toxoplasmosis. This is the case for smoked ham : indeed, it presents risks for pregnant women not immunized against toxoplasmosis. For immune women, it is imperative to check the ham is cooked and buy it vacuum-packed rather than sold by weight. Consume it straight away so that the bacteria listeria do not develop. If you want to eat ham, prefer ham or ham of Paris which itself does not pose a hazard when vacuum- packed.
